Coming Clean – Installing our new shower
We live at a marina full-time. It just so happens to be a very nice marina with a very nice and new in 2015 facility that includes restrooms with showers, a laundry facility, a gym and clubhouse. Before the new building, the old restroom and showers were pretty lame. They were clean, but with only […]
Ready to flush?
The wires were wired, the hoses were plumbed, and the salt tank was making saltwater. The only thing left to do now was to push the button and see if it worked.
Wye not?
Happy New Year!! A few parts I needed showed up in the mail this week so I spent a little time working on the Electro Scan wastewater treatment system.
Two tears in a bucket
So while I wait on the Big Brown Truck to deliver a few more parts I need in order to finish installing the new Electro Scan treatment unit, I thought I’d build the salt injection tank system…
Holding Tank Pitfalls
I’ve been perplexed by our holding tank for some time. We estimate it holds a whopping 15 gallons. We only use it now for #1 and only in the morning and maybe once at night. Luckily the marina bathrooms are uber nice and we’re both gone at work all day during the week so it […]
Now that’s using your head
Back before we moved aboard, one of the things we did was rip out the countertops in the galley and install new Corian. The old ones were laminated butcher block and they were in pretty sad shape, as was the counter in the head.
We’re so full of shit…
Holding tanks… Ohhhhh yeah, the bane of every boat owner. Shit and forget. That’s the policy. Until things break, of course. And then, that’s when the “shit hits the fan…” (quite literally so to speak, from experience).
Tank fiasco
So we haven’t talked much about the water tanks lately, mainly because we’re hooked up directly to the dock water and don’t really think about them too much. We had one leaky, 90 gallon, stainless steel tank that lived in our bilge. We removed that and bought one 48 gallon and one 36 gallon poly […]
By Leaps and Bounds
Rich has been kicking ass on boat projects. Yesterday he installed the Lavac toilet. Finally I don’t have to get out of my jammies and into clothes to make a run to the bathroom in the morning. It may seem like a small thing, but it’s a huge improvement to quality of life.
Tick Tock!
Less than two weeks to go until we are officially full-time liveaboards. I’ve been running around trying to find storage bins for everything we’re putting in the storage unit and on the boat. I still have three portlights and the brass bell to scrub with acid before we leave the condo.
