For the past week or so we’ve noticed a drop in our water pressure at the sink, but only on the main faucet, not on the drinking water side.  We kind of hoped that it was just Leo forgetting to turn off the sprinklers again, but we knew better.  Then Wednesday night I turned on the faucet and it dribbled out and finally stopped altogether.  I tried the drinking water faucet and it came gushing out.  So Rich tore apart the plumbing system trying to figure out why we had no water at the faucet.  An hour or so later we found a green cabbage looking substance in the fitting located just before the faucet.  Eww!  We then took off the sprayer end and found the faucet screen completely coated in green slime.  Double Eww!  We cleaned it all out and had water once again…for about 2 minutes, then nothing.  We took the fitting out again and found more cabbage, then the screen and found more!  Where the hell is it coming from?  We have a filter at the faucet on the dock so we have no clue how it got past the filter.  We cleaned it out again and solved the problem…or so we thought.  Over the next couple days the pressure began to drop again and we kept finding the green stuff in the plumbing.  Rich finally took the check valve that was the bottle neck for the green stuff completely out and now we have great pressure again.  And the faucet works just like it always has so we’re not even sure what the purpose of the check valve is.

The photo in the header is what we see out the galley portlight most nights right around dinner time.  That’s Conrad.  Suki hates him.

And this is Piper.  We’re still feeding her so she’s not starving anymore, but she’s lonely.  If anyone wants a really sweet cat let me know.
