Clock is ticking…

Oh Lord, 13 days and counting until I have to have this boat in a somewhat “habitable” condition. I haven’t been posting much, because I’ve pretty much been spending every waking moment working on the boat. I see my wife maybe 1 day out of 6 lately.

Almost Civilized

We installed the potable water system this weekend.  What a huge difference running potable water makes!  The well water in the delta is pretty foul.  It smells weird and has nasty floaties in it, so for months we’ve been carting drinking water in a 7-gallon jug back and forth from the condo to the boat. […]

Been busy…

We haven’t posted much lately, but I assure you, we’ve been busy.  I’ve been working on getting all the gunk off the portlights when I’m at the condo during the week and then working on stuff on the boat on the weekends.  Rich has been working on the countertops.

Refrigeration is a Wonderful Thing

I was starting to doubt I would ever see the day we had a working refrigerator…but that day is here (or so I thought). Rich worked on the electrical connections yesterday, and first thing this morning he coiled up the evaporator plate and stuck it in the freezer.  That part went smoothly; getting it uncoiled […]

Yowza!

I finished cleaning the bilge yesterday.  Today, I hurt.  My forearms ache from gripping the scrub brush; my back is sore from bending over all day and I accidentally tried to stand up while still under the salon table (not something I recommend anyone try); and my shoulders hurt from holding the palm sander.  Was […]

Flummoxed

We planned to tackle the holding tank this weekend.  Our goals were pretty simple: install new discharge pipe, pour some holding tank treatment chemical and water into the tank, let it sit for a few days, pump out the tank.  What did we accomplish?  Not a lot.

Car Ride – Round Two

Suki and I faced off for Car Ride – Round Two on Saturday.  We were in a different car, but the result was the same.  Hopefully we’ll only have to do this a couple more times before we move permanently aboard.  Once she’s onboard she’s totally content to cruise around below and on deck.

White Trash Bimini & Duct Work

Holy Mother!  It’s hot.  We’re in the middle of a heat wave in Sacramento.  It was only 106 yesterday.  Today’s forecast: 108.  Tomorrow: 111!  Geez, how is Rich supposed to be working his butt off on our long list of projects in this heat?
