Another So Cal trip

We made the six and a half hour drive to Marina del Rey yesterday to meet Denny and Steph on Spellbound.  When we met Denny back in February we really hit it off with him.  He’s a great guy.  His wife Steph is equally cool.  We arrived at the boat and they were very gracious and […]

Frustrated

Mr. Broker and I flew to San Diego for the survey and haul out.  We got onboard before everyone else showed up and the first thing I noticed was the canvas had all been changed from burgundy to navy blue.  Mr. Broker unfurls the genoa, which was brand new, and we’re starting off on a […]

The haul & hang

We drove to Marina del Rey on Thursday with Mr. Broker.  He arrived at our house on Wednesday night, we went to dinner, then crashed for a few hours.  We were on the road by 3am.  The drive was uneventful and we arrived about 15 minutes late for the survey.  Mr. Broker had hired Clark, […]

Back and forth

Off again, on again, off again… We’re losing patience with the IF41 in Marina del Rey.  After receiving our offer the sleazy selling broker called Mr. Broker to tell him he thinks his client’s bottom line is $45,000 and that he’s showing the boat to some other prospective buyers today.  Mr. Broker told him to […]

News update

We heard from Mr. Broker yesterday. The sellers in Marina del Rey countered our offer.  This is good news.  We will probably counter one more time, but we’re heading to Walnut Grove to see the other IF41 this afternoon.  If that boat is comparable we might wag the Marina del Rey boat altogether and bid […]

Progress

We might be making progress. We found out last night that the Marina del Rey IF41 is still up for grabs.  The person with the other offer only did a sea trial and didn’t like it so I guess they’re no longer interested.  Mr. Broker called and asked if we wanted to change our offer.  […]

Marina del Rey boat

Apparently we missed the boat in Marina del Rey. Someone else put an offer in the day before us.  They had the survey and sea trial yesterday so now we just have to wait to see if they buy it.  On the bright side, there is an IF41 in Walnut Grove and one in South […]

Nantucket

The Nantucket is sale pending on Yacht World. Rich called the broker who showed us the Nantucket to ask him about researching a couple boats in San Diego and asked him about the Nantucket.  Before we looked at it, someone had made a low ball offer.  The seller didn’t even counter the offer, but just […]

More boats

The Bayfield 40 in San Diego is back on the market.  I’m not sure why it was off the market because the price, info, and photos are the same.  We are also thinking about the Islander Freeport 41.  There are two in So. Cal that we wanted to see on our trip down there earlier […]

Get busy living, or get busy dying

I celebrated my 40th birthday on Monday (and I use the word “celebrate” loosely). I think my friends and family are more surprised that I’m 40 than I am.  This weekend we got together with some friends and went to Amador for some wine tasting; had a lot of fun.
