Victron Multiplus

We bought a new Victron Multiplus 3000 watt charger/inverter in November 2017 and finally finished installing it.  Here’s a little video of what we did.

CO Detectors

Rich had a little time off work so he was able to finished up a few little projects as well.  We have two carbon monoxide detectors in the boat and they last about 5 years.  A couple of months ago they started alarming which meant they were expired.  Sadly, we couldn’t find the exact ones we had so we went with a different model that uses batteries instead of being wired to the batteries.

Mast Wiring

When we redid the wiring in the boat, we neglected to connect some of the wiring in the mast so Rich was finally able to finish that and now we can anchor with a proper anchor light.  We bought a new tricolor anchor light a few years ago but haven’t installed it because we have to redo all the mast wiring.  So instead Rich replaced the old incandescent bulb with an LED as a temporary fix.

LED Lights

One of our earliest projects was installing LED strip lights.  That was almost 5 years ago and the technology has advanced since then.  We really like our strip lights (ours are individual strips about 12″ long), but we wanted to try the newer ones that come in a roll.  Rich replaced the starboard side in the salon and the verdict is we don’t like them as much.  They seem bluer and dimmer than our other ones, but they don’t use as many amps so that makes sense.

Water Pump

Our water pump also seemed to be on the fritz.  We had a Shurflow 3.5 gallons per minute pump that would run but wouldn’t pump the water from our tanks.  Rich bought a rebuild kit and new, bigger 5 gallon per minute Shurflow pump.  After a complete day of rebuilding and reinstalling the small pump, then replacing it with the larger pump, we still couldn’t get it to work.  Come to find out, a fitting in the plumbing had come loose and 3 seconds after finding that everything worked fine.  Bad news is we probably spent a couple hundred dollars we didn’t need to.  Good news is we now have a bigger pump and a spare pump.
