Having hot water on the boat is awesome. It’s hard to imagine not having a water heater. Unfortunately, we didn’t have to imagine it because our water heater broke (again) and we didn’t have hot water for about a week. And of course it happened in the middle of winter.
Our Isotemp water heater is only 3 years old and this is the third time we’ve had to repair it. This time we deduced it broke because we didn’t hook it up exactly right after the last repair. So this one is our fault. While Rich was making the repair he broke the capillary tube off the thermostat. So while we waited for the new one to be delivered we suffered through a week of icy cold water.
The repair was pretty simple, but geez, how many times are we going to have to fix this water heater? Outside of all the issues we’ve had these past years, the water heater works great. And we like that it fit under the sink which opened up the engine room considerably.
