White Trash Bimini redux.

As you may have seen from previous pictures of our boat, we have an interesting way of keeping the rain off of Ramble On.  $25 tarps from Lowe’s, a couple of 10′ lengths of PVC pipe, a shit-load of bungee cords, and a handful of zip-ties.  Hey man, we live in the Delta and it […]

Oh, the Humidity!

It’s fall in northern California.  What’s that mean?  It means chilly nights (mid to low 40s), foggy mornings, and sunny afternoons (low 60s).  Not too shabby you might say.  We’ve had two days of rain outside.  News reports say we’re technically in a drought, but I beg to differ!

We can breathe a little easier now

Carbon monoxide is known as the silent killer.  CO is a gas produced as a result of burning carbon based fuels such as gasoline, diesel or propane.  Odorless, colorless and tasteless; you don’t know it’s around until its too late.  Symptoms of CO poisoning include headache, nausea, dizziness or even unconsciousness, and can often be […]

Harvest time in the Delta…..

Fall is here.  The mornings are turning chilly, and the days are getting shorter.  I feel very fortunate that we live in the agricultural heart of California.  We have some of the freshest crops available right here in our own back yard, and I mean fresh.  The cornfields all around our marina are  starting to […]

Boat Life: Laundry

One thing is becoming obvious living on a boat.  There is no escaping dirty laundry. We finally found a hamper that isn’t too big and will fit under the V-berth.  Without it dirty laundry was spinning out of control.  It was everywhere!

Water Snobs

I’ve come to find that we are water snobs.  I’m talking drinking water.  The water in Folsom is amazing.  It tastes great, it’s not hard, and has really low total dissolved solids.  It’s so good that Kikkoman (you know, the soy sauce people) has a manufacturing plant there precisely because the water is so good.

Tick Tock!

Less than two weeks to go until we are officially full-time liveaboards.  I’ve been running around trying to find storage bins for everything we’re putting in the storage unit and on the boat.  I still have three portlights and the brass bell to scrub with acid before we leave the condo.
