Below the Waterline Projects
We wrap up our boatyard work with thru-hull, keel cooler, and transducer installations. Does splash day go off without a hitch?
All Decked Out
After 8 weeks of hard labor, the decks are DONE! And we’re really happy with the results.
Electrical Project Part IV
DC Electrical Update We finally finished the electrical project! Of course it seems nothing is ever completely done. We’ll have to revisit the electrical when we get new batteries and when we take down the mast to rewire it. But for now, we are checking this one off the list. The best part is we […]
Intergrip(ping) the Cabin Top
Hatches and cabin top projects – Week 3 No, we didn’t finish painting the cabin top with Interlux Intergrip last weekend. I washed the boat Friday in preparation for painting on Saturday. The plan was for both of us to start early Saturday masking, get the first coat of Intergrip on and maybe the second (and […]
Glazed Over with Projects
Hatches & Cabin Top Projects – Week 2 In typical boat-project fashion, refurbishing the two overhead hatches has taken way longer than expected. Rich managed to get both Bomar metal hatch frames off the boat without bending them too much. He removed the old glazing, scraped out the weather-stripping, and attempted to remove the old […]
No Rest for the Wicked
Rich is off work for the next TWO weeks, so there is no rest for the wicked – it’s project time again. I briefly mentioned to him a few months ago that it would be nice to get the final paint and non-skid on the cabin top before winter. That way next summer we can finally finish […]
Intergrip non skid
Yeah, yeah. I know it’s been a while since I last posted. Writing about boat projects has sort of taken a back seat to actually doing boat projects.
My Favorite Stripper
This weekend I finally started working on stripping the coachroof paint. Back at the beginning of Spring, I scraped off the top layer of paint. It seriously took me only a couple of hours because the paint was such shit.
Paint day
I finished fairing out the cockpit and got a second coat of Epoxy Primekote rolled and sanded. Jeni finally intervened and said “Will ya’ leave it the F’ alone already?!”. It’s supposed to rain Monday, so Saturday was the only option for us to paint the 1-part polyurethane Pre-Kote primer and still get a couple […]
Note to self
Not too much excitement going on, just more sanding and fairing. And a bit more epoxy primer over the last couple days.
