Clean and safe drinking water is a top priority while cruising. The Acuva ArrowMax 2.0 water purifier with an advanced pre-filter is a game-changer for us. It’s been a reliable solution to ensure our water supply remains pristine. The Acuva ArrowMax 2.0 uses a UV-LED to purify the water. It inactivates 99.999% of E. coli bacteria in drinking water. Water flows through the chamber in a controlled environment, matching water velocity and UV irradiance; creating consistent and reliable performance. ACUVA systems are flow-activated and use minimal power consumption.

Installing the Acuva ArrowMax 2.0 Water Purifier with Advanced Pre-Filter:

  1. Assess Your Galley Space: The first step is to identify a suitable location for the Acuva ArrowMax 2.0 purifier. Ensure it’s easily accessible for maintenance and doesn’t obstruct other equipment or storage. We located ours in the galley and in close proximity to the sink. The unit fits nicely on a bulkhead.
  2. Power Connection: The Acuva ArrowMax 2.0 water purifier requires a 12V DC power source. Check your sailboat’s electrical system to determine the best way to connect the purifier to power. Consult a marine electrician if needed to ensure proper installation. We installed ours ourselves and wired it directly to our DC electrical panel.
  3. Mounting the Unit: Securely mount the water purifier in the chosen location using the provided hardware. The bracket is easy to install.
  4. Connecting Water Lines: Carefully connect the inlet and outlet water lines of the purifier to your sailboat’s water system. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper connections and use suitable fittings to prevent leaks. The unit comes with everything we needed.
  5. Advanced Pre-Filter Installation: The Acuva ArrowMax 2.0 has an optional advanced pre-filter. Itenhances water quality by removing 99% of chlorine and lead, plus reduces VOCs, unpleasant odors and turbidity.
  6. Optional Smart Faucet: We opted to get the smart faucet which glows blue when the unit is activated. We already had a dedicated drinking water faucet at the sink so the replacement was easy.

Power Consumption and Filter Lifespan:

  1. Power Consumption: The Acuva ArrowMax 2.0 is designed with energy efficiency in mind. Its 12V DC power requirement ensures minimal power consumption (9 watts when in use). It’s a practical choice for sailboats with limited energy resources.
  2. Filter Lifespan: The filter lifespan varies depending on usage and water quality. On average, we change the pre-filter every 6-12 months or every 1,500 gallons. The UV-LED module in the ArrowMax 2.0 has a lifespan of around 9,000 hours (about 7 years) of operation.
  3. Gallons Processed: The unit is capable of purifying a significant amount of water before filter replacement is required. On average, it can cycle through 30,000 gallons of water, ensuring a reliable and continuous supply of clean drinking water.
