Yowza!

I finished cleaning the bilge yesterday.  Today, I hurt.  My forearms ache from gripping the scrub brush; my back is sore from bending over all day and I accidentally tried to stand up while still under the salon table (not something I recommend anyone try); and my shoulders hurt from holding the palm sander.  Was […]

Car Ride – Round Two

Suki and I faced off for Car Ride – Round Two on Saturday.  We were in a different car, but the result was the same.  Hopefully we’ll only have to do this a couple more times before we move permanently aboard.  Once she’s onboard she’s totally content to cruise around below and on deck.

White Trash Bimini & Duct Work

Holy Mother!  It’s hot.  We’re in the middle of a heat wave in Sacramento.  It was only 106 yesterday.  Today’s forecast: 108.  Tomorrow: 111!  Geez, how is Rich supposed to be working his butt off on our long list of projects in this heat?

More boat show goodies

Since everything metal on our boat is either covered in verdigris or rust we decided to pick up some metal polish while we were at the boat show.  More of an impulse buy than a decision, but we knew we needed it as soon we walked past the vendor’s booth.

Little Jerry

Ever see the Seinfeld episode where Kramer had a fighting chicken named Little Jerry?  Hilarious! A few weeks ago Devery, the marina harbormaster/owner, got a delivery of chicks in the mail.  They’re growing up quick and a few are becoming aggressive roosters.  One of the neighbors told us that last year one of the roosters […]

March Madness

March 1st and it’s 75 degrees…it’s madness, I say! Rich spent most of the week at the boat.  He figured out where most of the shelves go, but somehow he ended up with some spares.  The doors are back on the cabinets and all the crap spread around the boat while I painted, is now […]

Getting Down to Business

Boat projects the past couple weekends included finishing sanding the cabinets and painting the cabinets.  I only had the front half of the boat to sand so I hung a tarp, opened a hatch and some ports, donned my dust mask and dove in.  What a dusty mess!

Did I mention how much I hate to paint?

Jeni is out of town this week and I won’t be working down at the boat, so I decided to get some of the painting done.  Interior Lockers Phase-1 involved using Behr Premium Plus Ultra exterior latex that we read about on someone else’s sailing blog.  It went on pretty nicely and Jeni did a […]

It’s too nice outside to work inside

We went to the boat yesterday. Not surprisingly it was a lot more fun than watching the inauguration.  My chore list included sanding and painting the inside of the galley cupboards.  I had no illusions about escaping this task.  If painting must be to done, I’m the one who must to do it.  Rich hates painting […]
