Stand and deliver

Jeni and I were out for a ride in the dinghy not too long ago when she noticed water wasn’t streaming out the indicator tube in the usual “like a race horse” fashion. That stream is supposed to let you know the pump is picking up cooling water and circulating it through the engine, and […]
At least ours is above the waterline…

Jeni and I were looking forward to the long holiday weekend to get some more work done on the boat. She’s still scraping Cetol off the teak trim, and I started investigating the source of the rotten wood I found inside the starboard cockpit coaming last week.
Port side deck and lower moldings

I haven’t been posting much lately, but I’ve been making progress on the side decks. Weekends and evenings are the only time we get to work on the boat the last few weeks and it seems like things are going slower than usual.
Holy cowl

Feeling smart

Shore power. Everything’s great as long as it works. When it doesn’t (best case scenario), you have to go up to the dock panel and reset the breaker. Worst case, your boat catches fire and slowly sinks to the bottom of your slip (along with all your worldly possessions). Not smart.
White Trash Bimini redux.

As you may have seen from previous pictures of our boat, we have an interesting way of keeping the rain off of Ramble On. $25 tarps from Lowe’s, a couple of 10′ lengths of PVC pipe, a shit-load of bungee cords, and a handful of zip-ties. Hey man, we live in the Delta and it […]
You Don’t Have to Play Tennis to Get Tennis Elbow

Swinging a hammer is not good therapy for tendonitis and tearing up the foredeck last weekend really did a number on my right elbow. It’s been bugging me for a couple of months now and I have no idea what I did or have been doing to injure it. By late Saturday afternoon my forearm […]
