More fun with rope

Ever notice how it rains right after you wash your car?  We’ve had quite a few good  storms roll through Northern California over the past week or so, and I even had the chance to go sailing through one or two last weekend (my buddies boat, not Ramble On).

Feeling smart

Shore power. Everything’s great as long as it works.  When it doesn’t (best case scenario), you have to go up to the dock panel and reset the breaker.  Worst case, your boat catches fire and slowly sinks to the bottom of your slip (along with all your worldly possessions).  Not smart.

White Trash Bimini redux.

As you may have seen from previous pictures of our boat, we have an interesting way of keeping the rain off of Ramble On.  $25 tarps from Lowe’s, a couple of 10′ lengths of PVC pipe, a shit-load of bungee cords, and a handful of zip-ties.  Hey man, we live in the Delta and it […]

You Don’t Have to Play Tennis to Get Tennis Elbow

Swinging a hammer is not good therapy for tendonitis and tearing up the foredeck last weekend really did a number on my right elbow.  It’s been bugging me for a couple of months now and I have no idea what I did or have been doing to injure it.  By late Saturday afternoon my forearm […]

Leaky “teaky”

It’s the middle of March and it’s 80 degrees out right now.  The weather down in the Delta has been pretty nice the past week and it’s starting to motivate us to get working on top-side projects.  We’re hoping to get the boat back out on the water this summer, but the list of things […]

So here’s the catch…

The Corian galley tops have been installed since August (well, mostly installed) but up until a week or so ago we’ve been lifting the fridge lids by a flimsy strip of blue painter’s tape.  Every few days someone (not pointing fingers) tears the tape, and then I have to replace it.  My penitence, if you […]

White Trash Bimini & Duct Work

Holy Mother!  It’s hot.  We’re in the middle of a heat wave in Sacramento.  It was only 106 yesterday.  Today’s forecast: 108.  Tomorrow: 111!  Geez, how is Rich supposed to be working his butt off on our long list of projects in this heat?

Scratch That

So we thought our water tank was water tight…scratch that.  It’s leaking.  We saw a small drip, drip, drip at the aft corner into the lower bilge.  Just what we need – another project.

Chugging Along

With the refrigerator almost finished, we decided to tackle the holding tank. We’ve really been dreading removing all the old plumbing (yuck!)  In the picture above you can see the two black hoses that we cut off and holding tank just under them.

I can see clearly now

Boat projects are sometimes like a game of ping-pong; back and forth, and occasionally spinning off in unpredictable directions.  Last week I got a few more layers of pink styrofoam installed inside the refer box.
